2004 Nicol Entrepreneurial Awards Winners
1st Prize - Ankora TechnologiesElliott Gillespie and Brad Whitehead are the winners of this year’s Nicol Entrepreneurial Awards, and the top prize of $6,000. Elliott is a fourth year student in the Sprott School of Business at Carleton. Brad is in his fourth year of Systems and Computer Engineering. Ankora Technologies is their company. Ankora’s network technology provides Internet users with faster download speeds, dramatically decreasing the cost for ISPs providing this improved service. 2nd Prize - LocalContractors.caA team of two business students, Pamela Stewart and Al Pilcher, came second in the competition. Their company, LocalContractors.ca, is an Internet based company that acts as an intermediary between homeowners and contractors. 3rd Prize - cCasaThird place went to aCasa, a team of three engineers: Jeff DaSilva, Mihnea Galeteanu and Matthew McCormack. aCasa is developing software that ISPs can use to provide value-added services to their customers more easily and quickly. < Back
