2002 Nicol Entrepreneurial Awards Winners

1st Prize - RegisterMe.org

RegisterMe.org plans to offer an online registration service targeted initially at amateur sport in Canada. Once established in this beachhead market, the company will expand to other industries and into the U.S. The plan was developed by the team of Ms. Julie Budd and Mr. Scott Seaby.


2nd Prize - CertainKey

CertainKey was founded during the competition and is up and running. It offers security services, particularly PKI, to small and medium sized businesses and to individuals. Mike Cowpland was their mentor during the competition. As a result of this interaction CertainKey now provides security services to ZIM where Mr. Cowpland is CEO. (See www.certainkey.com) The CertainKey team included Mr. Jean-Luc Cooke, Mr. Paul Faure and Mr. Matt McParland.


3rd Prize - MoneyType

MoneyType is also up and running. The MoneyType Appraisal is a financial profile tool developed by psychologist Dr. André Côté. MoneyType markets the Appraisal principally to firms in the investment business as a value-added service for their clients. Dennis Jackson, Ottawa District VP of Scotia Bank, mentored the MoneyType team. (See www.moneytype.com) The team was headed up by Mr. Philip Côté and Mr. Tim Renczes.
